Application documents

A complete application should include the following documents:

  • Online application form
  • Essays
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Official transcript(s) of grades (undergraduate degree)
  • English language test score (where applicable)
  • International passport copy and photo

1. Online application form

To be considered for admission to the immersion experiences and projects offered by IBR Institute of International Business Relations, a candidate must complete an online application. IBR will confirm the content of the received information, and our local office will contact you for further admissions procedures.

2. Essays

The essay you are required to submit, represents you with an opportunity to tell us more about yourself. Use the essay to detail your work environment and the extent of your managerial experience in this environment. Should you have had previous appointments at other institutions, reciprocally we would be keen to learn of your management experience at these institutions. We are also keen to learn more about your ultimate career interests, values, and goals. We are interested in what motivates you, provide us with evidence of your leadership skills and teamwork. More importantly, expand in detail on why you are seeking to pursue a faith-based programme now in your life. The essay is considered an important part of your application and as a result, we recommend that you spend a significant amount of time in their preparation thereof.

3. Curriculum vitae (CV)

Please provide IBR with an updated CV reflecting a comprehensive career history. The CV, should focus on your academic background and your working experience, in particular as it pertains to your managerial and leadership capability. It should contain a detailed list of your personal working experience, which should include dates of employment, addresses of employers and responsibilities. If you have any significant gaps in your employment history, please tell advise us thereof during your personal interview.

4. Two letters of recommendation

IBR in addition to the above requirements, require two references from people who know you well and who can comment on your suitability for our business focused immersion experiences and projects. One reference could be from a current or previous employer, a colleague, or someone who knows you well enough to vouch for your integrity. The other reference could be from your pastor or a leader at church or Christian professional organisation. IBR reserves the right to contact your references for further information in connection with your application.

5. Official transcript(s) of diploma certificates and student record

All applicants must submit an official or certified original university (institute-) transcript of their academic degree (diploma), together with a student record (grade sheet certificate) of a minimum of four years study time in a full-time tertiary programme. In addition, applicants should also submit a graduation certificate from a secondary school. All documents should be officially presented in either the German or English languages.

6. English language test score (where applicable)

Proficiency in speaking, writing, and reading in the English language is essential. In the instance where:

  • English is not your native language or
  • you have not received your first academic degree at an English speaking higher educational institution, or
  • you have not lived for more than 2 years in a country where English is an official language
